Yoga and Surfing Retreat For All Levels of Learners
Practitioners will be practicing yoga in the open, wooden pavilion to the backdrop of the ocean and listening to the sound of the wild animals and the ocean. Classes are open for all levels of learners. Beginners are welcome. Mats and props are made available to the participants. Other than yoga and surfing, visitors have innumerable options for activities in and around the Montezuma region. Some of these options may include additional costs. Guests wanting to have a tour customized or other activities organized for them can contact Montezuma Yoga prior to their trip. Montezuma remains one of the most popular destinations on the coast, and several traveler like to stay put here for many days, not only for enjoying the balmy sun caressed beaches but also the adjoining nature reserves, like Cabo Blanco National Parks and Curù wildlife reserve, and islands, like Tortuga which are best known in the area for its cerulean waters, and the famous Montezuma waterfalls. Some of the excursions and sports available in the region include all day boat excursions to Tortuga Island, fishing trip, diving and snorkelling, surfing, kayaking, horseback riding, motorbike for rent, bird watching, quadrocyicle for rent and mountain bikes.
Dagmar Spremberg – Montezuma Yoga was founded by Dagmar Spremberg, a native German. After leaving Germany in 1996 she moved to Los Angeles, where she began practicing and studying yoga. After moving to New York she intensified her studies and trained with Anusara teacher Elena Brower at Virayoga NY. She arrived in Montezuma in october 2001 where she began teaching yoga and organizing yoga retreats with the Hotel Los Mangos. She is a 500 hour certified RYT with the yoga alliance and also an Anusara inspired teacher. As a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC she compliments yoga with her work as a certified Holistic Health Counselor.
Silvia Eriksson – Silvia is originally from Switzerland and later lived in Copenhagen, where she was inspired by a spiritual community to commence a Hatha Yoga practice 8 years ago. When she realized her passion for nature, art and the sea in Montezuma four years ago, she decided to make a home here. She trained with Jackie Chiodo, and became a YA 200hr certified Yoga Teacher. Silvia teaches alignment based Hatha flow, as well as Restorative Yoga. She is also a trained aesthetician, specialized in holistic natural skin care. Silvia lives full time in Montezuma, and her passion lies in helping people to discover a sense of peace through yoga, health and art.
Lucy Hamel – She is the guest teacher (January through May). Lucy has been practicing yoga for the past twenty years and teaching for the last six. Her training began in Athens, Greece with NYSY Studios, studying Hatha Yoga, Anusara and Bhakti Flow with teachers such as Vivi Letsou, Rusty Wells, Noah Maze, Todd Tesen, Martin Kirk. She adds to her class her knowledge of twenty five years as a personal trainer, sixteen years as a reiki practitioner and seven years as a breath worker. Spending her summers working in Greece she enjoys Montezuma in high season and has been a guest teacher at MY since January 2012.
