Montezuma has become a very popular place for foreigners to buy real estate. Almost everyone who visits can imagine living here because of its great natural beauty and the tranquilo lifestyle. While many other areas of Costa Rica tend to get older retirees moving there, Montezuma tends to have younger couples in their thirties, forties, and fifties, people who want to either retire while they’re still young, or are planning on opening various businesses. There are also others who telecommute. With the low cost of living in Costa Rica, it’s much easier to pay the bills. Many are buying properties in the area, hoping to one day move to Montezuma, or to build a vacation home. Most people who research the area come to the conclusion that real estate in Costa Rica is a great long term investment, so regardless of one’s future plans, buying a property in Montezuma will be a good thing.
Finally, great affordable lots in the Montezuma area! Priced from $25,000 – $50,000, many of these lots have beautiful mountain views, and include access to a community salt-water pool, organic orchards and gardens, power, water, etc. Click the photo on the right if you’re interested in sustainable living and building in Costa Rica. The PVS site has a lot of valuable information on eco-living, including Costa Rica suppliers of sustainable construction technologies.
I also have a property for sale in the hills behind Santa Teresa. It’s a great deal, at $275,000 for 5 hectares (12+ acres), nine lots, with spectacular hilltop views, several building sites, a stream with ancient trees, mango trees, and a 7-12 minute drive to the beaches of either Playa Hermosa and Santa Teresa. To my knowledge, it’s the cheapest ocean view lot in the Malpais/Santa Teresa area, by “per m2” price. If you’re wanting something a quieter than down in town, with a much nicer climate (less hot and humid), then it’s a great deal. This was going to be a small eco-village, but my two partners moved back to the U.S. so now we’re just selling the whole thing really cheap. You could keep half of it for yourself and sell four lots to easily get all your money back. Email me for more details. Also check more details about it here: Solar Vistas Eco Village
I’m an owner of Tropisphere real estate. We have two offices in the area (Montezuma and Cobano) and are very active in the community supporting efforts to rebuild local schools, health care centers, conservation programs, children’s environmental education, etc. You can read more about what we’re doing, and browse through our property listings here: Montezuma Real Estate or contact me directly: Email Geoff

My new favorite restaurant, Clandestina is not to be missed by food lovers staying anywhere near to Montezuma. Established in March 2015, Clandestina is the new kid on the block. The Oregon/Tico collaboration is a winner among locals and travelers alike, with artisan craft beers, made onsite by Butterfly Brewing Co. and delicious, exciting […]
